Article 1 This articles of association is formulated in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Lawyers, the Measures for the Administration of Government Lawyers, the Measures for the Administration of Lawyers of Corporation Corporation Lawyers and the Articles of Association of All China Bar Association and in light of the actual situation of Shanghai, with a view to regulating the activities of the Shanghai legal profession, promoting the development of the Shanghai legal profession, giving effect to the role of Shanghai Bar Association and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of members.

Article 2 The name of the association is Shanghai Bar Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Bar Association”, or by its acronym SHBA.)

The Bar Association is a social organization established by law with legal personality and a non-profit organization of lawyers in Shanghai, which maintains and manages the discipline of lawyers in accordance with law.

Article 3 The objectives of the Bar Association are: to adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, adhere to the leadership of the Communist Party of China, resolutely safeguard the authority of the CPC Central Committee and centralized and unified leadership with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, unite and lead members to be loyal to the Constitution and laws, consciously practice the socialist core values, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of clients, safeguard the correct implementation of laws and safeguard social fairness and justice; abide by the professional ethics and maintain discipline of lawyers; safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of members; improve the professional standards of members; strengthen industry self-discipline, promote the sound development of the legal profession, strive to govern the country according to law in a holistic way, build a socialist system of rule of law with Chinese characteristics and a socialist country ruled by law, build China into a prosperous, powerful, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful modern socialist country, and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Article 4 The Shanghai Administration of Social Organizations is the administrative authority for registration of the Bar Association. The governing authority is the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice. The Bar Association is subject to the supervision, administration and business guidance of the administrative authority for registration and governing authority.

The Bar Association is subject to the leadership of the Shanghai Bar Association of the Communist Party of China in organizing and carrying out the work of party building in the legal profession.

The Bar Association is subject to the guidance of the All China Bar Association.

         Article 5 The domicile and activity areas of the Bar Association are located in Shanghai.
