Chapter 9 District Working Committees

Article 48 The Bar Associations may set up branches and representative offices according to their work needs,The council may establish various committees responsible for certain businesses, affairs, or research activities reporting to the president or different vice presidents.


The establishment of branches and representative offices shall be subject to the consent of the board of directors, and shall be reported to the competent administrative authority for business and the registration administrative authority for record.

Article 49 The district lawyers' work committees are the working organs for the Bar Association to contact the members of all districts of Shanghai, carry out their work under the leadership of the Bar Association, and are subordinate to the Bar Association. The district lawyers' work committees shall accept the guidance and supervision of the judicial administrative authority of the district where they are located and of the municipal judicial administrative authority.

Article 50 The name of a district lawyers' work committee shall be "a working committee of Shanghai Bar Association", and the name of a district may appear in the name, but the word "district" shall not appear in the name.

Article 51 A district lawyers' work committee shall consist of a director, deputy directors and members, among whom there shall be one director, not more than four deputy directors and several members.

Article 52 The district lawyers' work committees shall perform the following work duties:

(1) to formulate the annual work plan of the district lawyers' work committee and report it to the council of the Bar Association for record;

(II) to assist the rights protection committee of the Bar Association in protecting the practising rights of district lawyers in accordance with the law;

(III) to assist the disciplinary committee of the Bar Association in investigating and dealing with complaints; and

(IV) to organise the training for district lawyers where necessary;

(V) to promote the work of district lawyers;

(VI) to organise district lawyers to engage in recreational and sports and welfare activities;

(VII) to carry out other activities related to the lawyer's practice of the district where they are located;

(VIII) to complete other work assigned by the council of the Bar Association.
